Details:

Overview

We pick you up directly at the Seward cruise ship terminal and begin our journey along the Seward Highway—an official National Scenic Byway known for glaciers, mountains, and wildlife. This fully narrated experience blends a comfortable transfer to Anchorage with classic Alaska sightseeing and a wildlife visit, ending with convenient drop-offs at the Anchorage airport and select hotels.

Kenai Mountains & Moose Pass

Soon after departure we climb into the Kenai Mountains, where views open above and below the tree line— jagged peaks, hanging glaciers, and alpine valleys. We roll through Moose Pass, a small mountain town framed by lakes and waterfalls.

Portage & Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC)

We pass the remains of Portage, a community dramatically affected by the 1964 earthquake, and continue to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. You will spend 1 hour exploring the Center. This sanctuary cares for Alaska’s iconic animals; you can view bison, elk, moose, caribou, musk oxen, eagles, and bears in spacious habitats while learning about conservation efforts. It’s a favorite stop for close-up photographs in a safe, respectful setting.

Turnagain Arm to Anchorage

The road then hugs the tidal waters of Turnagain Arm, where steep mountains plunge to the sea. We will have opportunities to spot Dall sheep on the cliffs or beluga whales in the inlet. Near Anchorage, we skirt Potter Marsh, part of the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge, a seasonal haven for waterfowl and eagles.

Arrival in Anchorage

We conclude with drop-offs at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and select Anchorage hotels. Settle in, review your photos, and enjoy the rest of your stay in Alaska’s largest city.
